Wilton Re modernizes a scalable foundation for acquisition-driven growth

A 20-year partnership turns complex legacy portfolios into a unified, cloud-based operation

Wilton Re is a leading provider of in-force and reinsurance solutions in the North American life insurance industry. Its business model helps insurers address legacy challenges, improve operating efficiency, and free capital and resources for strategic growth.

For more than 20 years, Wilton Re has partnered with DXC to integrate and administer acquired life insurance and annuity portfolios. What began with approximately 5,000 policies has grown to more than 500,000 — supported by an operating model built to handle complexity, scale efficiently, and protect the policyholder experience.

“From day one of Wilton Re, we made the decision that we were going to outsource everything that wasn't a core competency for us, and given our past relationship and success with DXC, it was a no brainer to start with them. And they are a premier partner and preferred partner in every transaction that we do.”

Growing through acquisition without multiplying complexity

Every portfolio acquisition brings distinct products, data structures, administration systems, regulatory requirements, and servicing processes. Many acquired policies run on aging or obsolete technology, yet they must continue to be administered accurately—often for decades.

Wilton Re needed more than a technology provider. It needed a partner that understood its business, could convert complex portfolios with confidence, and could operate core insurance functions end to end. The model also had to provide predictable administration costs, maintain high service standards, and give Wilton Re the flexibility to pursue future transactions.

A repeatable model for conversion and administration

DXC works as an extension of Wilton Re’s team, supporting policy administration, customer service, claims, financial processes, compliance, and technology operations. Over two decades, the companies have refined a repeatable approach for bringing acquired blocks into an established operating environment rather than rebuilding capabilities for every transaction. That experience has become a strategic advantage. DXC’s teams understand Wilton Re’s products, business rules, and servicing requirements, helping reduce transition risk and accelerate operational readiness. The model gives Wilton Re a consistent source of data, standardized processes across portfolios, and an experienced team capable of administering even highly complex legacy business.

Modernizing the foundation — without disrupting service

In 2026, Wilton Re and DXC completed one of the largest and most complex transformation programs in their partnership. More than 400,000 policies were converted from prior DXC technologies to DXC Wealth Management Accelerator (wmA), a unified, cloud-based policy administration platform.

The transformation consolidated previously separate administration environments onto one modern platform while maintaining continuity for policyholders and agents. The program also established a common operating environment for future acquisitions, reducing the need to create separate infrastructure and processes as the portfolio grows.

With cloud connectivity and APIs in place, Wilton Re now has a foundation that can support greater automation, digital self-service, and future AI-enabled workflows — without another core system transformation.

“This was far more than a lift-and-shift migration—it was a complete reimagining of how a complex; multi-decade portfolio of insurance products is administered. Rebuilt from the ground up on a cloud-native foundation, the transformation combined modern technology with operational rigor to deliver the reliability, performance, and policyholder experience that Wilton Re’s customers expect and deserve.”
