Global enterprises face increasing pressure to manage complex financial operations while keeping pace with constant regulatory change. In countries where financial systems must adapt to unique tax rules and local variations, manual processes can quickly become inefficient and error-prone.
For Syngenta AG, this was the reality in Argentina, where multiple provincial taxes, exemptions and dual SAP systems made supplier invoice processing highly complex. Manual entry slowed operations and increased compliance risk.
DXC Technology partnered with Syngenta to develop an automated system that extracts tax data from invoices, matches it across multiple systems and displays real-time insights through interactive dashboards. The new system allows tax experts to identify and correct issues faster, improving accuracy and operational efficiency across the process.
The solution, built on AWS-native services, combines Optical Character Recognition (OCR) with GenAI capabilities to automatically read and digitize invoice data, then analyze it at scale. Its modular design means new features can be added as business needs evolve, and it can be easily extended to other countries across LATAM.
Two new applications are already in development: one to improve SAP tax entry, and another to summarize and track regulatory changes for faster adaptation to new compliance requirements. This modular solution forms the foundation of Syngenta’s GenAI Invoice Data Lake, a central platform that connects OCR, AI and analytics capabilities to deliver continuous learning and improvement.
“GenAI redefines how Syngenta’s tax experts operate, providing enriched data, real-time dashboards and clear visibility that drive faster and more accurate financial decisions." Lars Henschel, Head Group Indirect Tax at Syngenta
The GenAI Invoice Data Lake has transformed tax handling for Syngenta by delivering measurable efficiency gains and establishing a foundation for continuous improvement. With a unified view of invoice and tax data, the company is better positioned to manage complexity, maintain compliance and free finance teams to focus on higher-value activities.
By combining Syngenta’s industry expertise with DXC’s technical capability and AWS’s cloud infrastructure, the initiative demonstrates the power of human and machine collaboration in finance.
Across industries, finance and tax leaders are under pressure to deliver accuracy, transparency and agility in an increasingly regulated world. Syngenta’s transformation shows how intelligent automation and GenAI can simplify complexity and strengthen resilience.
DXC works with global enterprises to connect platforms, optimize financial operations and empower teams with the data and digital capabilities they need to adapt quickly, innovate confidently and grow sustainably.
