Improving reporting and enhancing operational efficiency with Oracle Cloud ERP
The energy sector is under pressure to meet growing demand while transitioning to renewables, making accurate insights and efficient operations essential for reliable service delivery. New Zealand is rapidly decarbonizing, moving away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy.
At the forefront of this change is Meridian Energy, the country’s largest electricity provider, which generates around one-third of New Zealand’s electricity needs from 100% renewable sources.
Meridian serves over 400,000 residential and business customers, making affordability, reliability and security critical. To meet these demands, the company needed more accurate, timely insights and more efficient processes.
Meridian partnered with DXC to replace its outdated, heavily customized legacy systems with a unified Oracle Cloud ERP platform. The new solution brings finance, procurement, project portfolio management and enterprise performance management (EPM) into a single cloud-based environment.
The new solution also introduced stronger procurement discipline by requiring purchase orders for all expenses, and connected Meridian’s broader systems through Oracle Integration Cloud.
Together, these changes give leaders faster access to accurate information and establish a modern foundation for long-term efficiency.
Meridan’s new solution is generating new efficiencies, including:
The upgrade gives Meridian faster access to critical financial data, boosts efficiency, and delivers the insights needed to make smarter decisions while keeping electricity affordable and secure.

Beyond the initial implementation, DXC continues to support Meridian through a multi-year managed services agreement that covers ongoing updates, integrations and testing. This includes a testing-as-a-service model using automation to keep Oracle ERP and EPM current with regular cloud releases. By combining implementation and long-term support under one partnership, DXC gives Meridian both stability and flexibility to adapt as new requirements emerge.
“If you’ve got better information at your fingertips, you’re going to be able to do that more effectively,” said Mike Roan, CEO, Meridian Energy. “I’m very thankful to have had DXC as a partner. We’ve set ourselves up for the future.”
Meridian’s transformation demonstrates how cloud ERP and analytics can help utilities modernize operations, improve reporting and drive efficiency at scale. For energy companies and other critical industries, the challenge is adopting cloud platforms in ways that deliver both operational resilience and lasting value.
With decades of global experience in Oracle solutions, DXC helps organizations like Meridian integrate modern ERP and EPM systems, unlock new insights, and build the agility needed to succeed in fast-changing markets.
