DXC Technology Launches First Reconciliation Action Plan

CANBERRA, Australia – 9 November 2020 – DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) today announced the launch of its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which aims to support self-determination and improve societal outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Speaking at the official launch event held at Brindabella Business Park in Canberra, The Hon. Ken Wyatt AM MP, Minister for Indigenous Australians said, It’s great to see DXC taking a leadership position to provide increased opportunities in technology enablement for Indigenous communities. This level of industry collaboration is key to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in achieving self-determination in education and career outcomes, building sustainable Indigenous businesses and making a measurable impact in our community and economy."

DXC’s RAP adds a formal framework to its Australian First Nations Program through four main themes, which will form the basis of initiatives from November 2020 to May 2022:

• Business Partnerships: Developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with First Nations businesses, working jointly with business partners to support each other’s reconciliation journeys
• Community Engagement: Building ties with community, participating in shared learnings, cultural exchange and co-design of community-building initiatives, consulting on DXC's relationship with lands, waters and communities
• Education and Career Pathways: Supporting students’ exposure to technology through all levels of their education, building on existing pathways and supporting mechanisms into ICT careers
• Culture, Inclusion and Diversity: Learning about and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and providing a culturally safe and supportive work environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

To support the launch of the RAP and demonstrate our commitment to its four themes, DXC commissioned Aboriginal artist Casey Coolwell to develop the RAP Program artwork, reflecting the desire to build meaningful connections with the community and collaborate to bring lasting positive change. Casey is a Quandamooka, Nunukul woman from Minjerribah, with connections to Eulo and the Bini people of Bowen.

The RAP program’s strength is its framework of relationships, respect, and opportunities, allowing an organisation to strategically set its reconciliation commitments in line with its own business objectives, for the most effective outcomes, said Karen Mundine, Chief Executive Officer, Reconciliation Australia.

The launch ceremony in Canberra is being simulcast across DXC’s Australian offices for employees to view the live event. Coinciding with the launch, DXC is unveiling a series of artworks from Traditional Owners across the country to be displayed in each of its main State and Territory offices.

DXC has been actively involved with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and businesses, including supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics camps for First Nations children in South Australia, NT Cricket and working with Supply Nation-certified businesses such as Willyama Services.

DXC’s First Nations Program and RAP are managed through DXC’s Social Impact Practice, which was established in 2018 with the aim to better understand regional social issues and to co-design solutions that benefit the community and improve economic opportunities. The Social Impact Practice also runs the award-winning DXC Dandelion Neurodiversity program.
