ivari reimagines a new era of life insurance

Life & Annuity insurers face rising pressure to drive growth. Today’s policyholders and agents want fast, accessible, digital-first experiences.

To meet this demand, insurers are adopting automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide instant access to products and services, accelerate underwriting, and offer more personalized products.

ivari's ambition to accelerate time-to-market, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience made it clear that transformation was necessary.

Meeting evolving demands with modernized systems

With CA$96 million in annual premiums and nearly 60,000 applications a year, the large Canadian life insurer, ivari, had strong market momentum, but legacy systems and fragmented back-office operations were slowing down product innovation.

The company wanted better handling of its key operational processes to improve agility, streamline workflows, and deliver better experiences for both customers and agents.

ivari turned to its long-standing, trusted partner DXC Technology to support its digital transformation journey—focused on modernizing heritage platforms, enhancing digital customer access and accelerating time to market for new life insurance products.

“The partnership with DXC has provided us the ability to really focus on what we do, which is focusing on life insurance,” said Scott Gorman, EVP and COO at ivari & Sagicor North America. “It has also provided us the ability to launch products a lot quicker than in the past.”

Partnering for progress

The relationship began with a Business Process Services (BPS) engagement where DXC supported ivari by managing day-to-day operations and streamlining routine tasks such as claims processing, customer support and data entry.

“What differentiates DXC is that they're proven in insurance outsourcing. They're proven in insurance technology capabilities,” said Vas Rao, Head of Insurance Operations at ivari. “DXC has the capacity, the scale, the familiarity to be able to take on legacy assets and to transform us to tomorrow.”

The strategic partnership expanded to include enhancements to ivari’s electronic application and illustration systems, support for new product launches, and increased access to customer data.

This collaboration—spanning operations management, platform enhancements and product launch support—allowed ivari to reduce overhead, scale more effectively and focus on its core mission: protecting lives and the investments that support them.

By partnering with DXC, ivari has already seen a 22% reduction in operating costs, faster product delivery and improved digital capabilities. The ongoing relationship continues to provide the scale, transparency and insurance expertise needed to move confidently toward full transformation.

Migrating to the Cloud

ivari has long relied on DXC Ingenium—a core policy administration system purpose-built to manage individual life insurance policies. To support future growth and innovation, ivari has migrated its Ingenium system to the Assure Platform, DXC’s secure, high-performing, cloud-based environment. The migration provides enhanced security, scalability, and a platform for continued innovation and efficiencies, enabling ivari to streamline operations, accelerate time to market for new life insurance products and strengthen the digital experiences it delivers to policyholders and agents.

Transformation, efficiency and a sharper competitive edge

Partnering with DXC enabled ivari to reimagine how it works while protecting investments in its heritage systems. The key benefits, thus far, include:

  • 22% reduction in operating expenses
  • Accelerated product delivery timelines
  • Enhanced digital tools for customers
  • Scalable systems prepared for future expansion
  • Strategic access to DXC’s life insurance innovation and technical expertise

The big picture

By shifting to smarter solutions and faster processes, ivari was able to get to a more customer-centric way of doing business. It's also a great example of the DXC team coming through with the technology and expertise needed to meet the complexities of the challenge.

DXC's insurance business—with its easy-to-consume, flexible software-as-a-service solutions—has served over 1,000 clients and has processed over one billion insurance policies and a staggering 10% of the world’s premiums. These are a few of the many examples of the value DXC brings to nearly every stage of the insurance life cycle.
