The workforce is changing. PERSOL TEMPSTAFF is showing how to lead the response

PERSOL TEMPSTAFF is a leading Japanese human resources company that originated from a pioneering venture for women's employment in 1973.

Temporary staffing companies, which supply millions of workers across the globe, are now facing labor shortages, shifts in workforce attitudes and the wide-ranging effects of technological advancements. In Japan, where a declining birthrate and an aging population are driving worker shortages across many industries, PERSOL TEMPSTAFF, is modeling a smart approach to these challenges to continue meeting customer needs.

Less time on back-office paperwork, more time for people

One of Japan’s largest HR services companies, PERSOL TEMPSTAFF supports more than temporary staff*1 and 52,600 client companies*2, primarily in clerical and office work, manufacturing, production, transportation and cleaning.

Operations of this scale demand efficient back-office operations, yet the industry often struggles with multiple platforms, outdated paper forms and fragmented workflows that slow employees and create barriers for new hires.

PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s Technology Division set out to change this, aiming to simplify approvals, reduce workloads and build IT talent capable of sustaining digital transformation.

PERSOL group’s vision is to become a ‘Career Well-being’ Creation Company. Improving operations and productivity through digitalization is essential to achieving this goal,” said Yosuke Ryu, Manager in PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s Technology Division. “This project was a significant step forward.”

A faster path with ServiceNow and DXC

In late 2023, PERSOL TEMPSTAFF adopted ServiceNow® to consolidate and accelerate workflows and strengthen in-house IT capabilities. DXC Technology, a ServiceNow Global Partner, provided templates, training and hands-on support to make life easier for the internal team and enable faster onboarding for new employees.

“DXC’s proposal directly confronted our internalization goal and provided a clear roadmap for how to achieve it,” said Ryota Irisawa of PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s Site Promotion Department.

Within just nine months, PERSOL TEMPSTAFF designed and deployed 72 workflows, all consolidated into a single portal where employees can submit, track and approve requests in one place. Real-time visibility, built-in resolution and streamlined flows have eliminated inefficiencies and reduced support costs.

Transformation you can measure

The project delivered a measurable transformation:

  • 72 workflows built in-house in nine months
  • A single portal replacing multiple systems
  • Intuitive menus that help new hires onboard faster
  • Real-time status tracking to reduce bottlenecks and support calls
  • Young team members gaining digital skills and confidence, fueling future innovation.

Beyond operational improvements, the project energized PERSOL TEMPSTAFF's technology team, giving younger members leadership experience and technical expertise while positioning the division as a driver of company-wide digitalization.

Scaling with confidence

PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s success shows how combining ServiceNow’s platform with DXC’s expertise can deliver immediate gains such as streamlined workflows, faster onboarding and new technical skills for its workforce. These results are helping PERSOL TEAMPSTAFF strengthen its digital foundation and prepare for continued growth.

The big picture

PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s journey illustrates how digital platforms can transform business operations by improving efficiency and empowering employees with new skills. Across the staffing and HR industry, organizations face the same pressures: balancing efficiency, employee experience and long-term resilience. DXC helps businesses meet these demands with workflow solutions that unify systems, automate processes and create the digital foundations needed for the future of work.
